This is designed to provide a comprehensive appraisal of the financial means and assets at the disposal of the subject in order to decide if it will be worthwhile commencing a litigation claim. Some of the following will be established:
• What type of property does the subject reside in?
• Does the subject own the property, if so, what was the date of acquisition?
• Is it likely there will be any available equity in the property?
• Is the subject currently employed, if so, in what capacity?
• Does the subject own a motor vehicle or any other assets?
• Are there any Judgements registered against the subject?
• Would it appear that the subject has the ability to pay the amount outstanding?
The idea of the report is to establish whether or not the subject has the means to pay before commencing a legal action with its associated costs. There is little point in going through the expense of issuing and serving proceedings and obtaining a Judgment only to find that there is no prospect of enforcing the Judgement due to lack of means.
